The end of the Bernie Sanders presidential campaign - 4/20

On April 8th 2020, Bernie Sanders suspended his presidential bid. The first election I got got to vote in was the 2016 general, and I did not get to vote in the primary. Like last time, the nomination came down to the wire. In my opinion, there are too many moderates within the Democratic Party, and tis cannot help combat the opposing party that seems to get more radical by the week. When Clinton was running 2016, there were a lot of issues that she opposed that Sanders supported. These issues include Marijuana Legalization, Economic equality, and LGBT issues. To make matters worse, republican candidate Donald Trump took moderate stances on issues that his opponents were against, gaining his one issue voters. It comes at no surprise that there is a lot of slander and mudslinging that comes with every major election, and certain issues stir different types of responses. When it comes to Sanders dropping out of the race, of course it saddens me. Don't get me wrong, I will always vote democrat because it is the platform that I generally always agree with, and Sanders was only going to take that platform to the next level. Bernie Sanders delivered this message when he announced the end of his campaign "So while we are winning the ideological battle and while we are winning the support of so many young people and working people throughout the country, I have concluded that this battle for the Democratic nomination will not be successful. And so today I am announcing the suspension of my campaign." This is obviously going to clear the way for Joe Biden attaining the nomination for the 2020 election, which, while we need to support our candidate in this situation, comes as a large disappointment for me and likely many others. Sanders ran on a platform that could only be described by the word "Change." It is a shame that Biden is not as progressive as Sanders in any way shape or form unless he picks up a progressive as his running mate, which seems unlikely. Biden does not seem interested in running a campaign based on change, but rather a campaign based on replacing Trump. There could be many arguments against this, but I don't think Biden has the power to shift a significant amount of supporters to his side to defeat Donald Trump in November. Anything can happen, but only time will tell.
